We asked the following questions (or some variation thereof) when conducting phone interviews:

Are any of these services focused on issues of global climate change?
Do you have an action or social group that participates in stewardship activities
in your local community?
Do you have any child or adult educational programs that incorporate issues of stewardship or specifically global climate change?

you affiliated with any regional or national associations?
Do you take measures at your congregation to promote environmental consciousness
(e.g. recycling or use of compact fluorescent light bulbs)?
Have you had any obstacles in trying to implement any stewardship activities?
Do you have any future stewardship projects planned?
Our rating system for earth stewardship involvement
After asking the following questions, we rated each institution based on their involvement in earth stewardship activities. We considered factors such as awareness, regular involvement in stewardship activities, and energy efficiency and rated the institutions on a scale of 0 to 6.
